Video: The Farmers & Geography Behind the Cherries

Have you ever wondered what makes our no sugar added dried cherries and decadent chocolate-covered cherries so delicious?The secret lies in the climate, geography, and volcanic soil of the place we call home: the Yakima Valley in Central Washington.

With soils shaped by massive ice age floods and windblown loess, climate prone to cold winters and blazing summers, and geography blessed by the mighty Columbia River and its tributaries, Yakima Valley farmlands produce world-renowned fruit. Northwest cherries in particular are famous for their remarkable size and flavor.

No one explains the magic of this region better than the people who farm it. In the video below, Scott and Vicky Williams of Kiona Vineyards detail the geology of this unique area and how their cherries make the tree-to-table journey with Chukar Cherries.
