Bing Cherry Crostini

This appetizer bite combines sweet and salty flavors, and is easy to throw together for any summer gathering. The dried Bing Cherries are the star of the show here, adding the perfect pop of sweetness in every bite.

Ingredients

  • Baguette, sliced into 1/4 to 1/2 inch rounds
  • Olive oil, for drizzling
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Sharp or aged white cheddar, sliced to fit your crostini
  • Dried cherries, roughly chopped
  • Balsamic glaze, for drizzling
  • Large fresh basil leaves
  • Flaky salt, for finishing

Directions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet and drizzle with olive oil, salt, and pepper.
  2. Bake for 6 to 9 minutes, until toasted to your liking. Keep an eye on the bottoms so they don’t burn.
  3. While the crostini toast, slice your cheddar into pieces that fit each crostini and roughly chop the dried cherries.
  4. Stack the basil leaves on top of each other, roll tightly, and slice across the roll to make ribbons.
  5. Build each crostini: cheese, dried cherries, a drizzle of balsamic glaze, and a few basil ribbons.
  6. Finish with a sprinkle of flaky salt and serve.
