Mulled Wine with Dried Cherries

The perfect holiday drink!

Ingredients

  • 4 cups apple cider, preferrably made with Northwest apples
  • 1 bottle Chukar® Columbia Valley Red Wine Blend
  • 4 ounces Chukar® Cherry Medley
  • 1\/4 cup honey
  • 1 navel orange, zested and juiced
  • 2 cinnamon sticks
  • 4 whole cloves
  • 3 star anise
  • 2 navel oranges, sliced, for garnish
  • 2 dozen 6-inch bamboo skewers for cherries

Directions

In a large saucepan combine the cider, Chukar® Columbia Valley Red Wine Blend, Chukar® Cherry Medley, honey, orange zest, orange juice, cinnamon sticks, cloves, and star anise. Bring to a boil. Lower to a simmer and continue cooking for 12 minutes.
Slice oranges into thin rounds for garnish. Set aside.
Using a slotted spoon, remove a half cup of cherries from the liquid and drain. Place 6-8 cherries on each bamboo skewer.
Pour spiced cider into mugs, add an orange slice and a cherry skewer. Serve hot.
