Cherries Bournemouth

Cherries Bournemouth

If you’re a fan of soccer, you may be familiar with the Association Football Club and the crowds they draw all across Britain. One of the most well-known football clubs is AFC Bournemouth. Their team dresses in bright red shirts, and because of that, they’ve been dubbed by the public as “The Cherries.”

Many restaurants around the UK serve a special drink they call Cherries Bournemouth to coincide with the team’s sports season. But even if you’re overseas, you can still make your own Cherries Bournemouth that will pair perfectly with any sports game!

First...

Bing cherries are the stars of this particular drink, as they’re sweet and guaranteed to bring that signature Bournemouth color.

You want to take a large saucepan and combine one pound of fresh and pitted Bing cherries, one cup of white sugar, and a cup of water. Stir it frequently as you bring it to a boil, then remove from heat and let cool for fifteen minutes.

While You Do That...

Use a large pitcher for serving and add a cup of lemon juice and another cup of vodka. We suggest finding a cherry-flavored vodka, but if you don’t have access to that, plain will work fine. You can even use a cherry liqueur like Heering’s or Luxardo’s if you’d like to enhance that pivotal flavor.

Whatever booze you choose, mix it with three cups of water — or four if you don’t want to use alcohol. Then, once it’s cooled, you can add the cherry syrup and stir the concoction together. Take the final product and add ice, and then you’re ready to serve.

Finally...

If you’d like, you can garnish with mint, lemon. or additional cherries. However you serve it, Cherries Bournemouth is a refreshing and tantalizing cocktail that’ll put you in the perfect headspace to enjoy a game with friends!
