Drawing Cherries (Easy Version)

Drawing is an extremely accessible activity that people of all ages can enjoy. If you have a pencil and a piece of paper, you can draw, and there are plenty of online resources that help with the basic construction of certain pictures.

When it comes to the basics of drawing, there are a few early steps that you should keep in mind no matter what image you’re trying to draw. We’ll discuss some of those steps using an image that nearly anyone can recall with their memory and recognize on sight: A bunch of cherries.

Drawing Cherries with Basic Skills

The first thing you should do when putting pencil to paper is to draw a very basic outline of the entire bunch of cherries. This consists of a few straight, sketched lines that show how far the drawing will go in each direction so that once you start adding detail, your proportions won’t get lost accidentally.

Once you’ve drawn a basic outline of your cherry bunch, you can go ahead and draw the cherries themselves. This consists of three circles that fit into the bottom section of your outline, with the one in the center slightly overlapping the two on the sides. Make sure that the circles are all roughly the same size without going past your outline.

Draw a slightly curved line from the top portion of each circle to the top of your outline, and you’ll have the stems. From here, your experience of drawing cherries is up to you. You can add as much detail as you would like, from a gleam of moisture on one of the cherries to a leaf at the top of the drawing where the stems meet. Drawing cherries is easy as long as you take it step by step.
