In 1988 we planted our roots, factory, and headquarters in the birthplace of Washington Wine Country—the Yakima Valley. From the beginning, our goal was to create all-natural cherry edibles and gifts that reflect our region in style and taste. We were committed to clean ingredients, no preservatives, and an authentic celebration of our region’s vast agricultural bounty. For over 30 years we’ve done just that. Always keeping cherries at the forefront, we’ve featured a variety of orchard fruits… and now wine.
Fast forward to 2020—Chukar Cherries fulfilled a long-awaited goal by taking on the mantle of winery. Our wine-soaked region now has 16 AVAs (American Viticultural Areas), with most of them in the south-central part of the state. In fact, Prosser alone has 30+ wineries! How could we resist? As wine lovers ourselves, we wanted to showcase what we’ve known all along—there’s no better pairing than Chukar Cherries and Washington wine.

Chukar’s first red wine is a Columbia Valley Red Wine Blend. It’s robust and full-bodied with mild acidic notes. It’s comprised of four locally grown grape varietals—Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Merlot, and Malbec—with the following flavor characteristics: Cabernet Sauvignon (robust, full-bodied), Syrah (rich, acidic tones), Merlot (mellow, blending), Malbec (spice notes). Chukar’s first white wine gift is a Columbia Valley Chardonnay—smooth, crisp, and not overly buttery. It’s a lovely year ‘round and spectacular drinking wine. We can’t wait for you to try both!
